St. Ann's college for women was established in 1983 with 2 UG courses and 106 students. Today it has emerged as an institution of excellence, enshrining its ideal "Light of Life". The appeal of the college cuts across social, financial, cultural and linguistic barriers. Being a missionary college, the effort is to foster a rich campus culture, reinforcing the need fro an ethical component, integrity and social concern, which in addition to academic excellence and skill enhancement, constitutes the whole educational experience Committed as it is to the highest ideals of higher education with its vision of academic excellence, skill enhancement and value enrichment, quality consciousness has permeated into every aspect of the institution’s functioning.
The college continues to grow in quality, impact and reach. In the wake of the information explosion, the changing times require that we continually expand and evaluate our academic aspirations. The institution continues to maintain its dedication to excellent teaching while promoting research activities and reaching out to the community. The college strives to maintain an environment which encourages all employees to upgrade their personal and professional goals and aspirations as we work towards achieving the mission of the college. Placement
The placement cell is involved in career guidance and organizes campus interviews to select graduates from all disciplines. It provides the infra-structure to support every stage of placement activity. The placement cell organizes coaching classes for aptitude tests, presentations and workshops for the students registered with the placement cell. The organizations are contacted and brochures are put up on the notice boards. Arrangements for pre-placement talks, written tests, interviews, group discussions, etc., are made as per the requirements of the organizations. Final year student have to register with placement cell. Over 70% of the students registered in the placement cell are placed every year in different organizations.
Infrastructures
The college is housed in a 4 acre campus with spacious, well-furnished class-rooms, well-equipped laboratories for Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, Micro-biology, Genetics, Nutrition, Bio-chemistry, Bio-Technology, Psychology and a Museum. A modern state-of-the-art computer center is located in a fully air-conditioned block. There is a large acoustically treated auditorium, spacious audio-visual rooms, well-furnished conference hall and a seperate block to accommodate the P.G. Courses. Language teaching is aided by the well equipped language labs for English and French. Smart boards and LCDs add to the learning experience at St.Ann’s.The digital display boards installed in the corridors show the latest updates of the events in the campus.
