Private University Estd. 1952 NIRF #1 (Medical) 2024The Institute of Mathematics and Applications was established by the Government of Orissa, vide the Resolution of the Government of Orissa, Science and Technology Department. In the last several years since its inception, consistent with its aims and objectives, it has been active in searching and nurturing talents in mathematics by organizing training and interactive camps for successful students in various mathematical Olympiad tests. It has engaged itself in exploring the applicability of mathematical ideas in exotic areas of studies such as studies on heat wave, cyclone, wetland management etc., besides its engagement in traditional research in various disciplines of mathematics. It has become a center where local mathematicians avail the opportunity to interact with the mathematicians from within the country and abroad. Institute aim is to undertake and support inter-disciplinary research through interaction between Mathematicians and Physical / Biological / Engineering /Social Scientists.

Infrastructures
Institute of Mathematics and Applications, integrated modern Campus has a highly functional design and strong rationale to every aspect of the design the serene environment provides a perfect setting for a professionally rewarding educational experience. Student activity areas such as a lounge and cafeteria, spacious classrooms of varying seating capacities, conference halls, faculty chamber, library are available.
Laboratory
The Institute having two number of well equipped and furnished air conditioned Computer Laboratory hosts with servers and number of PCs. From HP/Compaq, IBM etc, is running different Operating systems like Window/Linux. All the systems are connected with windows and Linux Domain separately. Also configured with network Laser printer, scanners and other network devices.
Library
A well stocked Library with more than 5000 latest references on mathematical , financial, Computational and related subject as professional journal both national and international, which collectively support the teaching, and research and extension programmes of the Institute . All student, faculty members and employees of the institute are entitled to make use of the library facilities on taking Library membership.
