Private University Estd. 1952 NIRF #1 (Medical) 2024The Institute of Life Sciences, Ahmedabad University, was started in August 2012 with a motto “Nurturing Science, Knowledge and Innovation “ promoted by Ahmedabad Education Society (AES), one of the best education societies in Western India, is currently offering Ph.D, M.Sc and Integrated MScprogrammes in Life Sciences.
With a view to encouraging research based teaching and project based learning, a world class infrastructure has been established at the Institute. Located in the midst of a pristine-environment the Institute has state-of-the-art infrastructure with a team of highly motivated scientists in the area of nanobiotechnology, genetic toxicology, pharmacology, advanced molecular biology and in silico biology. We are also the first in the country under a Private University to set up a “Centre of Excellence in Flow Cytometry”. This facility has enabled our students at ILS and other research institutions to conduct in-depth research to probe the various cellular and molecular events in prokaryotic and mammalian cells.

Infrastructures
Located in the midst of a pristine environment of Ahmedabad city, the Institute of Life Sciences has been set up with well-equipped modern labs and classrooms. The programmes are focused on multi-disciplinary research based teaching with emphasis on individual projects and experiments in state-of-the-art laboratories. Pedagogy of our institute boasts of research based teaching and project based learning. The Institute of Life Sciences has state-of-the-art infrastructure with a team of highly motivated scientists in the area of nanobiotechnology, genetic toxicology, pharmacology, advanced molecular biology and in silico biology.
Classroom
The classrooms are well-ventilated, spacious, air-conditioned and fitted with advanced audio visual equipment for presentation and have comfortable furniture. Wi-Fi enabled campus.
Laboratory
The Institute has PCR, Flow Cytometry (only university in India offering hands-on at MSc level), nucleotide, protein and molecular biology facilities animal and plant cell culture facility & in silico technologies. Separate lab bench for each student.
Library
A well-stocked library is housed in the learning block. It is regularly updated with latest books and journals.
