The Indian Academy Degree College – Autonomous (IADC-A) started with a modest beginning in the year 1994. Currently, it is poised to have student strength of more than 3000-an astounding growth by all standards. The student profile spans across multi-cultural and diverse backgrounds, with people from over 37 countries and from across multiple states of India.

Bangalore University Affiliation

Indian Academy Degree College has been sanctioned Academic Autonomy as prescribed by U.G.C under section 64(1) of Karnataka State Universities Act, 2000 and under Section 4.8 of Bangalore University Autonomous College/Body Regulations-2005. IADC-A offers UG and PG courses in science, commerce, management and humanities – 17 undergraduate courses, 14 postgraduate courses and Ph.D programs in Life Sciences. IADC – Autonomous (IADC-A) has over 100 well-trained and qualified teaching staff and adequate supporting staff. It boasts of well-planned infrastructure with a strong ICT interface that fosters the teaching and learning process. Student-centric learning is given prime importance.

University Grant Commission (UGC) Recognition

IADC – Autonomous (IADC-A) has one of the rare distinctions of being recognised as a college with β€˜2(f)’ and ’12(B)’ status, by the University Grants Commission, Government of India. This special status enables the college to receive central assistance and grants under teacher and student related schemes. Many a faculty member has succeeded in obtaining grants for research and developmental activities.

IADC – Autonomous (IADC-A) has been recognised as an ISO 9001:2008 certified organisation by internationally reputed TUV Rheinland. To align with the ideals of internal quality assurance, standard procedures and formats are used in the planning and execution of various activities prescribed in the quality manuals of ISO 9001:2008. Internal academic audits are regularly conducted to sustain and improve the quality of internal processes and other teaching-learning aspects.

  • The candidate should have cleared the Pre-University examination of Karnataka, Pre-University Board, an equivalent examination conducted by any other board/ Pre-University, or 10+2, with a minimum of 35% aggregate pass marks in science, arts or commerce.
  • A candidate who has passed JODC / three-year diploma in engineering (Government of Karnataka), or any other examination considered as equivalent, with a minimum of 35% aggregate marks in all the semesters/years, shall be eligible for admission.

Candidates who have completed 2-year Pre-University course in Karnataka or its equivalent with Business Studies and Accountancy as two major subjects of study at Pre-University Level are eligible for admission.

Bachelor of Commerce (Evening) -

Candidates who have cleared two-year Pre-University course of Karnataka state, 12th standard, or an equivalent examination, are eligible for admission into this course.

BSc Biotechnology, Chemistry, Zoology -

Candidates should have passed Pre-University course, 12th standard, or any other equivalent examination, with biology as one of the optional subjects.

BSc Chemistry, Zoology, MicroBiology -

Candidates should have passed Pre-University course, 12th standard, or any other equivalent examination, with biology as one of the optional subjects. Selection is based on marks in the qualifying exam.

BSc Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics -

The candidate should have cleared the Pre-University examination of Karnataka, Pre-University Board, an equivalent examination conducted by any other board/ Pre-University, or 10+2, with a minimum 35% aggregate pass marks in computer science, mathematics and physics.

BSc Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics -

The candidate should have cleared the Pre-University examination of Karnataka, Pre-University Board, an equivalent examination conducted by any other board/ Pre-University, or 10+2, with a minimum 35% aggregate pass marks.

A candidate who aspires to take Physics as an optional subject in the B.Sc Degree Course should have studied Mathematics as an optional subject in addition to Physics as one of the optional subjects at 10+2 level. Likewise, a candidate who aspires to study Statistics should have studied Statistics or Mathematics as an optional subject at the 10 + 2 level.

BSc Electronics, Mathematics, and Computer Science -

The candidate should have cleared the Pre-University examination of Karnataka, Pre-University Board, an equivalent examination conducted by any other board/ Pre-University, or 10+2, (at least 2 science subjects as optional is necessary) with a minimum 35% aggregate pass marks.

B.Sc – Physical Sciences – Electronics, Mathematics, Physics -

The candidate should have cleared the Pre-University examination of Karnataka, Pre-University Board, an equivalent examination conducted by any other board/ Pre-University, or 10+2, with a minimum 35% aggregate pass marks.

A candidate who aspires to take Physics as an optional subject in the B.Sc Degree Course should have studied Mathematics as an optional subject in addition to Physics as one of the optional subjects at 10+2 level.

Candidate should have passed Pre-University course, 12th standard, or any other equivalent examination, with biology as one of the optional subjects.

BSc – Nursing -
  • Pre-University/10+2 with 45% aggregate marks in physics, chemistry, biology and english.
  • The candidate should have completed 17 years on or before 31st December of the year of admission.
  • The candidate should be medically fit.

MSc – Applied Genetics -

B.Sc. degree with minimum aggregate marks of 50% in all optionals, with any three of the following subjects: chemistry, biochemistry, applied botany, botany, applied zoology, zoology, environmental science, microbiology, biotechnology, genetics, applied genetics or sericulture.

For SC/ST candidates (Karnataka Students) a minimum aggregate score of upto 45% is acceptable.

MSc – Microbiology -
  • B.Sc degree of Bangalore University or any other equivalent university equivalent thereto with any Life Science course and a minimum aggregate of 50% marks in all the optional subjects.
  • Students who have passed B.Sc Biotechnology / B.Sc Biotechnology (integrated) with a minimum score of 50% marks in aggregate (with biochemistry as one of the papers)
  • Students with B.Sc Honours in biotechnology/microbiology/botany/zoology/biology with 50% aggregate score including all optional.
  • Other graduates (in the absence of 1, 2 & 3) with 50% marks in aggregate: including those from the fields of agricultural sciences, dairy sciences, horticulture, forestry, fisheries, pharmacy, engineering (biotechnology), Medicine / Dental, Agricultural Engineering, Clinical Lab Techniques.
  • Students with chemistry/ biochemistry compulsorily as an optional subject along with at least one of the following optional subjects- microbiology, biotechnology, botany, applied botany, zoology, applied zoology, industrial microbiology, environmental science, genetics, applied genetics, sericulture, home science, life science, biological science.

MA – Economics -

The candidates who have passed the Bachelors / Master Degree Examination of this University or any other University recognized as equivalent there to and has secured not less than 50% of the marks in the aggregate in Arts, Science, Commerce, Management, Social Sciences, Engineering and Technology Courses shall be eligible for admission.

In case of SC/ST/ Cat-1 students and blind students the minimum percentage of marks required is 45%.

MA – English -

Graduates who have secured 40% aggregate marks in all optional subjects, and 50% marks in the cognate subject, in the qualifying university examinations, are eligible to apply. Candidates with B.A., B.Sc., or B.Com degrees are eligible to apply, provided they have scored 55% in the language concerned, in the degree course.

MBA – Master of Business Administration -
  • A graduate degree of 10+2+3 or 10+2+4 pattern under any discipline securing at least 50% marks in aggregate including languages from a recognised university in India and aboard.
  • Honours degree of 10+2+4 pattern from recognised universities under UGC Act, having at least 50% marks in aggregate, including languages
  • Candidates who have cleared bachelor’s/master’s degree through correspondence /open university system from Bangalore University or from any other university recognised by law, are exempted from 10+2 pattern. The duration of degrees must be three and two years respectively.
  • Candidates who pass bachelor/master degree in any university system in single sitting pattern are not eligible.

MCom – Master of Commerce -

Candidates who have cleared B.Com/B.B.M/BBS and BBA degree examinations of Karnataka University, or any other university recognisedrecognized as equivalent, having secured not less than 50% marks in aggregate in all the commerce subjects during all semesters.

In case of SC/ST students (Karnataka Students only) and blind students, the minimum percentage of marks required for admission eligibility is shall be 45%. (Isn’t it supposed to be 50%? It reads 5%. Please change accordingly.)

MCom (Master of Commerce – Financial Analysis) -

Candidates who have cleared Bachelors or Masters Degree in Commerce/Accounting/Management/Economics of Karnataka University, or any other university recognized as equivalent, and have secured not less than 50% marks in aggregate in all the commerce subjects during all semesters.

In case of SC/ST students (Karnataka Students only), the minimum percentage of marks required for admission eligibility is 45%.

MCom (Master of Commerce – International Business) -

Candidates who have cleared bachelors/master degree examinations of Karnataka University, or any other university recognized as equivalent, having secured not less than 50% marks in aggregate in all of the papers studied under the qualifying examination shall be eligible for admission.

In case of SC/ST students (Karnataka Students only), the minimum percentage of marks required for admission eligibility is 45%.

MSc – Nursing -
  • The candidate should have passed B.Sc. or Post B.Sc. Nursing, from recognised universities under Indian Nursing Council.
  • The candidate should have a minimum of 1 year of clinical or teaching experience, after B.Sc.
  • P.B.B.Sc. candidates need not have experience.
  • The candidate should be a registered nurse.
  • The candidate should be medically fit.

MSc – Bio-Chemistry -

Candidates must have secured 40% in aggregate and must have studied chemistry or biochemistry as one of the cognate subjects and must have secured 50% marks at B.Sc. level (considering all optional subjects) and must have studied biology at PUC or 10 + 2 level.

MSc – Biotechnology -
  • B.Sc. degree from Bangalore University or any other equivalent university, in any life science subjects, with minimum aggregate marks of 50% for all optional subjects
  • Students who have passed B.Sc. Biotechnology/B.Sc. Biotechnology -integrated with minimum aggregate marks of 50%
  • Students who have passed B.Sc. honours in biotechnology, microbiology, botany, zoology or biology with minimum aggregate marks of 50% for all optional subjects
  • Graduates from the following fields are also eligible(in the absence of the above criteria) with 50% marks in aggregate:
  • Bachelor of Agriculture
  • Bachelor of Dairy Science
  • Bachelor of Horticulture
  • Bachelor of Forestry
  • Bachelor of Fisheries
  • Bachelor of Pharmacy

MSc – Organic Chemistry -

A candidate must have secured 40% marks in the aggregate and studied Chemistry (cognate subject) securing 50% marks in this subject at the BSc level and studied Mathematics at 10+2 or Pre-University level.

MSc – Computer Science -

The candidate must have B.Sc. (Computer Science) or BCA with mathematics as one of the subjects, and a minimum aggregate score of 50% in all optionals (throughout 3 years B.Sc. / BCA course), or B.Sc. PCM with PG Diploma / Certificate in Computer Science, of duration one year.

MSc – Mathematics -

B.Sc. graduates with mathematics as a cognate subject; must have secured minimum aggregate marks of 40% in all subjects and with minimum 50% in mathematics through Bangalore University or of any other university recognized as equivalent, shall be eligible for admission. In the case of SC/ST students, relaxation will be allowed as per the university regulations.

MSc – Physics -

Candidates who have passed B.Sc degree examination of Bangalore University or any other university recognised as equivalent, shall be eligible for admission, provided he/she had opted for physics and mathematics as two of the three cognate subjects, with minimum aggregate marks of 50% in all optional subjects.

Master of Tourism & Travel Management -

Candidates who have completed 10+2/PUC course, Karnataka State or equivalent thereto, and have secured at least 50% aggregate marks in all papers studied for the qualifying examination, are eligible for admission. In case of SC/ST/category-I students, the minimum percentage of marks required shall be 45% in aggregate (Karnataka students only).

Excellent faculty. Good atmosphere. The placements are not good. Its a good place for studies but the placements are not proper. The rules and regulations are good. Great cultural activities are there for students. The surroundings are good. The atmosphere is excellent and friendly faculty is there. Cultural activities are conducted. I've had a good experience.
