The department provides learning opportunities and undertakes research projects in concept and techniques related to diverse areas in LIS. Placement

Infrastructures
The Department offers good infrastructural facilities for students that includes a separate library, an IT centre, a gym, hostel facilities, sports facilities and a co-curricular activities organizing committee.
Classroom
All the classrooms of department are well furnished with all modern facilities.
Laboratory
The department owns a well-equipped Information Technology Laboratory. Other equipments in the lab include an LCD projector, scanner, reprographic equipment and a host of printers. The systems are networked and there is also a high speed Internet connection in the lab. MS-Office, CDS/ISIS, WINISIS, Libsoft, Alice for Windows, and SOUL are the major software packages owned by the Department
Library
The Department has a separate library of its own with a fairly strong collection of books and periodicals on traditional librarianship, information science and information technology.
