Department of Computer Science, Jamia Millia Islamia University is one of the six departments that make up the Faculty of Natural Sciences of Jamia Millia Islamia. The Department offers MCA (3 years), PGDCA(1 1/2 Years) and M.Sc. (Bioinformatics)(2 years) courses through a well-designed industry-oriented curriculum.

Placement

The placement committee comprises of certain faculty members and student representatives. This committee is responsible for organizing the placement related activities. The students of earlier batches have been selected by some of the blue chip companies.

All the classrooms of the department are well furnished with all modern facilities.

The Department have Computer lab with latest equipment and with all modern facilities.

Substandard education provided by the college

The course is 0% industry oriented. They try to sell it to you as a self financed professionally inclined package. For a government funded DBT supported course, the content is pathetically designed with most of the prescribed literature of the past era which is completely useless. The only positive point of the university is that, the hostels are well furnished with proper sanitation and tasty food. Jamia boasts its own proper sports complex, which is well maintained and open for all the students. Barely any company came for campus recruitment. Even those that came wanted coders and not bioinformaticians. Most of the faculties has no link to bioinformatics. They are either teachers of MCA or biologists as guest faculties, invited from colleges of Delhi university. Hence, the curriculum, placements, infrastructure and teaching quality needs improvement.
