Placement
This profession surely gives a golden opportunity for those who love to reveal the past. After successful completion of post graduate degree in archeology, one can get the job as Epigraphists, Numismatists. The former one is the study of inscriptions found on ancient monuments and temples etc; while the latter is the study of old tokens, coins or various other objects which are used in the earlier times.
One can work as tourist guide, interpreters and heritage administrator. One can undertake the teaching line after clearing NET (National Eligibility Test).
Skills Required to become a Archaeology: -

- One should have perceptive and questioning mind other than deep observation and logical thinking.
- In this field essential demands are creativity and accuracy.
- One should be ready undertake physical stress and strain as one might have to work outdoors continuously for hours and even at times in uncomfortable conditions.

Infrastructures
The department infrastructure is well equipped with all modern facilities.The university is spread over six campuses, viz., Chepauk, Marina, Guindy, Taramani, Chetput and Maduravoyal. The Chepauk campus of the university houses the VC's secretariat, central library, centenary auditorium and the historic Senate House. The oriental and Indian languages departments are located in the Marina Campus. The Guindy campus incorporates the natural sciences departments while the campus at Taramani houses the school of basic medical sciences.
