The Jharkhand Government, willing to spread the academic excellence of BIT further across the state, made a request to the institute to establish an Extension Centre at Deoghar. BIT responded wholeheartedly and subsequently, a MoU was signed between the Institute and the Government of Jharkhand. Thus, the Deoghar Extension Centre of BIT commenced functioning in October 2007 as the eighth of the Institute’s campuses within India offering undergraduate programs in different streams of engineering.

Infrastructures

The Deoghar Campus has been going through major Infrastructure and facilities expansion since its inception over two years earlier. Initially, classes were held at the Panchayat Training Institute in Jasidih, about 3 km from Deoghar, and transit hostel accommodation for students was also arranged on the same campus. Subsequently, the Centre’s own campus with more than adequate facilities is being developed on land allotted by the Government of Jharkhand in the villages of Ramchandarpur and Ratanpur at Jasidih, near Deoghar.

Laboratory

The Central Computing Facility (CCF) forms an important component of the Institute's infrastructure, providing a wide spectrum of services to the students as well as faculty and staff involved in research and other academic activities. All students have various computer science papers in their courses.
