Word of the day ~ Irrepressible

Ah! I was just now reading a bit of Enid Blyton...... Wait! You are shocked that a 17 year old, Nah, almost an 18 year old according to the university admission form, 17 years, 10 months and 1 day old teenage boy is reading Enid Blyton? This is the usual expression which I receive from anyone; taunts that I haven’t yet grown out of my childhood. Guys, this is a serious thing, you can never grow out of books. Some books will always be there which will fantasize you, sway you in its magic and make you feel elated!

So, what was I talking chatting of now? Yeah, Enid Blyton! Blyton fans would remember devouring the Adventure Series! Remember Jack, Dinnah, Philip and Lucy Ann? And the mischievous parrot, Kiki? Ah, now your fingers would be itching to pick up any of the Adventure series and be lost in its vast world?

Without much ado, I proceed:

Word of the Day:    Irrepressible

Meaning:  Persistent, uncontrollable, full of beans (Informal usage)

Usage:   It is used as an adjective like – “You are irrepressible”

Why is it so interesting?

I need not say where I discovered it. In one of End Blyton’s adventure series (It is up to you to find out the book); Jack describes Kiki as being ‘Irrepressible’. To be more exact, Kiki is described as being irrepressible as she is quite apt in spouting out rhyming silly words. Like – Dusty Musty Fusty (The second book, the castle of adventure). She holds a stock of commands (Like – Shut the door! Wipe your feet before you enter), silly sentences and peculiar noises which lightens up many a grim situation.  Thus, Jack terms her being irrepressible – one who can't at all be controlled and one who is always full of beans, irrespective of the situation!
