As another day enters (and exits) my life, I look for some word which exactly describes the phase I am passing through! Dejection, anxiousness and worry, Nah, a better word to describe what I feel is – “Frit”.
Frit - Frit of what? Frit of what is happening now, frit of what is going to happen tomorrow and frit of what might happen in the near future.
Not the right place to say this, but I am terrified of what the cut-offs hold for me. After the first cut-offs have been announced, I don’t have a place in any eminent college though I do belong to the 95% + club! Uggh! I think this ranting will find place in a separate blog later.
So, back to the old format:
Word of the Day: Frit
Meaning: Frightened
Usage: It is always used as an adjective.
Where did I discover it?
This word, I exactly remember theday I read it in a book. Seven years ago, when I first got an Enid Blyton, it was one of the mystery series, the second book – The Mystery of the Disappearing cat. ‘Frit’ is used by Luke, the assistant gardener in an offhand manner. Rather than being an abbreviation of ‘Frightened’, ‘Frit’ is a word used by characters who are uneducated and speak in a rustic tongue.
