BPS Mahila Vishwavidyalaya will be organizing the Women Youth Parliament at BPSMV Campus on January 29-30, 2014.

In this programme there will be about 150 participants from various Universities of Haryana and 150 participants will be BPSMV. In addition to participants, there will be about 2000 spectators.

The programme will be organized under the aegis of the Haryana Vidhan Sabha. The Hon’ble Chief Minister, Haryana has very kindly agreed to inaugurate this programme.

 

The following themes have been identified for the Women Youth Parliament 2014:

• Amendments in laws relating to rape and molestation to ensure that they act as a deterrent for the criminals

• Amendments in the Hindu Marriage Act as proposed by Khap Panchayat to prevent marriages in the same ‘Gotra/ Village’

• Amendments in laws related to domestic violence with a view to reduce the incidences of such violence

• Amendments in laws relating to human trafficking

• Laws to provide women reservation in Parliament and State Assemblies

• Laws to provide reservation for women in admission and employment

HODs of all colleges are requested to send their best students to participate in this event and January 15 was the last date to receive the selected student’s names.

 

About the University:

Bhagat Phool Singh Mahila Vishwavidyalaya is the first women State university of Northern India established by the Government of Haryana in August 2006 at Village Khanpur Kalan, District Sonipat. The University is mandated to provide affordable qualitative higher education to women especially belonging to rural areas.
