WHEN SELFIES TOOK THE WORLD BY STORM

“What are you getting all dressed up for?”

“Mom,I’m taking a selfie.”

You went to the mall?Met Yuvraj Singh?Won an Oscar?Sadly,if you forgot to take a selfie-chances are it didn’t happen.

As Wikipedia defines it, a ‘selfie’ is a self-portrait photograph,typically taken with a handheld camera or camera phone.With millions of people clicking and uploading them everyday,taking selfies has become a global past time.Frankly,I don’t understand such extreme obsession with oneself.Okay,I admit-I too am a victim of narcissism.But there’s a limit to it,like,only 20 selfies a day.

Over the last few years,I have prepared a list of how many types of selfies really exist.Some of the unique ones are mentioned below:-

1.The make-up selfie-This is the most common among girls.A dash of lipstick,a really thick mascara,and a pout that puts even Angelina Jolie to shame.Usually taken alongwith their ‘bestest best friends’.

2.The ‘we’re lovebirds’ selfie-Aww,so you made a new girlfriend/boyfriend!Of course,you have to proclaim your love to the world,with either of you kissing the other on the cheek.Cho-chweet,my cutieeee!

3.The trial-room selfie-Oh,so you went to the most expensive shop.Sneaking a peek at the price-tag,you scurried to the trial room,and posed for the imaginary shutterbugs.No you didn’t,you little devil.And you even dared to caption it “MY NEW ARMANI SHIRT”.Wow.Just wow.

4.The ‘BUD-DAY waali’ selfie-No birthday party today is complete without the quintessential cake-on-the-face selfie,in which some overenthusiastic friends decide to play ‘Match-the-following’ with a yummy cake and the birthday boy’s face…..Haha.You look stupid and….Wait,when did you throw a party?

5.The ‘Main Tera Hero’ selfie-Dollops of gel,an extremely uncomfortable slimfit shirt,combat boots,a pair of aviators,and you’re good to go.Yes,the girls are gonna swoon when they see you,*superstar*.

6.The ‘I-got-a-new-haircut!’ selfie-Finally!A new haircut buddy!Of course,all of us need to know which styles are not in fashion anymore,courtesy--you.
