so as i sat in my room dialling the numbers of my seniors to wish them a HAPPY FRIENDSHIP day
They chose to enlighten me on what college life actually teaches you all these 3 years. Here is a jist of what I learnt:
The true wisdom lies in the full-blown knowledge of self. The days spent in college revolves around such phases of introspection. The various intangible shades of the self are visualised with every bit of opportunity, circumstances witnessed in college life. They constitute a collage of varied memories and experiences that serve us in good stead. It is not merely a way towards higher education but more of an open book answering the queries like WHAT, WHY, HOW we are. Sounds strange? Let me enumerate upon some facets of college life.
Besides scaling our knowledge growth upwards, the ambience of the college creates an adult out of every young mind. Broadening one’s outlook, experimenting with various activities post schooling, a person tends to learn more about his leading multiple intelligences. Encountering new situations among new set of people gives us a new mode of an ideal behaviour. One billion people, two billion perspectives-a way ahead of high school enables us to form one idea and make our minds up to come up with the best. A mature perception is not the only feature imbibed while living in the world beyond home but it even teaches us to build a strong self to simplify every complexity in the life ahead. College life helps us generate self confidence within ,plus gives us the ability of creative problem solving. It helps us to do what we love thus appreciating life, and inturn, building an optimistic self.
A very famous saying ,”To thine yourself be true” is realised in the process of self analysis at this stage. The originality in ideas guarantees the success and college gives a platform which enriches the originality of gen-Y.Experiencing various things, a person undergoes immense changes in personality. A perfect balance of identity quotient(IQ) and emotional quotient (EQ) is achieved during this stage of life. Therefore , the self emerges in the response to the multi-faceted life of college.
Strengthening inner virtues is not the only key product of one’s conglomeration with early adulthood, but the learning includes other aspects as well. The leading attribute is independence. College is a sheer inspirational outing where we learn to “fly free with care, independent.” Facing new times both good and bad makes us bold and responsible enough for our own deeds. Moreover, better managerial skills are learnt like time and resource management. The government has a legitimate say in providing the degree of adulthood but it is the college which has the actual say in analysing the degree of adulthood. Another attribute developed is the competitive spirit. Seeing the burgeoning prodigies reaching the zenith makes the self competitive, eager to challenge others and win the world. Every feature of the self is enhanced to its core in the early adulthood.
An eye on every try portrays the most dynamic phase of life-college which bestows oneself with numerous chances to reach the heights. It provides a look on all the options which makes us better informed about our self.
We will write our own story. Understanding oneself deeply is the onset of this story. So begin with it remembering the words of Socrates- ‘An unexamined life is not worth-living.’
