VIT University Leads in Research Publication, Leaving IITs Behind

VIT University has hit the record in number of research publications in the year 2022 and bagged a count of around 495 publications in its name, surpassing other institutions including IITs. All the private institutions are putting their efforts to enter the premier league of research publication; however, VIT University bagged the top position.

This conclusion has been conveyed by Scopus, which is the largest abstracting and indexing database of peer-reviewed literature, scientific journals, conference proceedings and books. It delivers a comprehensive overview of the world’s research outputs in different fields.

Earlier, Indian Institute of Sciences (IISc), Bangalore was at the top position with a count of 756 publications, followed by IIT Kharagpur, IIT Bombay and IIT Delhi. Other private universities who were able to mark their presence in the list included Thapar, Amity, Manipal, Sastra, SRM. VIT University’s number of publications has seen growth over the years, as per statistics, it bagged 441 publications in the year 2010, 620 in 2011, 906 in 2012, 1704 in 2013, 2015 in the year 2014, and 2402 in the year 2015.

VIT University aims at uplifting research centres among the educational institutions in the country and raises in the present research funding for up to one percent of the GDP. The university’s managing committee has shown their support for the research scholars by distributing awards and appraisal for up to 20,000. The committee also took an initiative towards expanding scope of research by filling up the space with the latest lab equipment and raising funds for the same.
