The UPSC Combined Medical Services Exam 2012 is divided into two parts – Written (500 marks) and Personality Test (100 marks).  The written exam for both papers will be objective/ multiple choice answer type set in English only. Please note that the Commission has the right to fix qualifying marks in any or both the papers in the examination. Also note, that incorrect answers will be penalised with negative marking.

The written exam is conducted through 2 papers, carrying a maximum of 250 marks each and time limit of 2 hours each.

Personality Test

Students who have qualified the written exam will be called for interview/ personality test conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). This test is the final leg of the Combined Medical Services Examination and will determine the ability of the student with respect to general knowledge and academic study. It will also test the personality; assess the intellectual curiosity, critical powers of assimilation, balance of judgement, alertness of mind, ability for social cohesion, integrity of character, initiative and capability for leadership.
