UPSC to Hold Special Class Railway Apprentices’ Examination on 20th January 2013

UPSC will be conducting the examination for the recruitment of Special Class Railway Apprentices (SCRA) in Mechanical Department of Indian Railways on 20th January 2013. Interested candidates can apply before 12th November 2012. The examination is conducted for recruitment under the Ministry of Railways, Government of India. 

Eligibility to apply to UPSC SCRA Examination 2013:

• A candidate must clear intermediate or an equivalent examination of a University or a Board approved by the government of India with Mathematics and at least one of the subjects Physics and Chemistry in first or second division.
   
• Graduates with Mathematics and at least one of the subjects Physics and Chemistry as their degree subjects may also apply.
   
• Must have cleared 10+2 with first or second division in at least one of the subjects Physics and Chemistry.
   
• A candidate must be a citizen of India or a subject of Nepal/Bhutan.
   
• Tibetan refugee who came to India after 1st January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India can also apply.
   
• A person of Indian origin migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, The United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia or from Vietnam with the intention of permanent settling in India can also apply.
   
• Candidates migrating to India (as mentioned above) should have a certificate of eligibility issued by the Government of India.
   
• A candidate must have attained the age of 17 years and also must not have attained the age of 21 years on 1st January 2013.
   
• A candidate should be born not earlier than 2nd January 1992 or later than 1st January 1996.
   
• The age limit is relaxed for candidates belonging to reserved categories/Defence service personnel/ex-service men/OA/OL.
