The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has modified the pattern of the Civil Services (Mains) paper. The new format of the Civil Services paper will be in a question-answer booklet format and aspirants will have to provide answers in the space provided in the booklet itself. Any information provided outside the prescribed area will not be evaluated.
While the drastic change in the UPSC Mains format will take some adjusting to by the students, in many ways, the change is being viewed as a positive step by experts.
The advantages of change in pattern of UPSC (Mains) paper 2013 are:
- Point wise information will have to be provided that may save time
- People from technical background will not have to worry about not being able to churn out well formulated and descriptive essays
- A good grasp of English language will not be a predominant factor
