The CSAT or the Civil Services Aptitude Test is an exam conducted by the UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) for the recruitment of personnel in the elite Government Services of India such as IAS, IFS, IPS and many more. The test is a compulsory part of the Civil Services Examination and Civil Services Mains Examination which is followed by an interview.
The examination consists of two papers that are objective in nature and 200 marks each. The marks obtained in this examination are used for screening purpose only and not used to determine the final order of merit of the candidates.
Eligibility Criteria:
- For the Indian Administrative Service and the Indian Police Service, a candidate must be a citizen of India and must have attained 21 years of age on 1st August 2014. The upper age limit is 32 years, which is, relax able for the reserved categories.
- For other services, a candidate can be either citizen of India or a subject of Nepal, Bhutan. A Tibetan refugee or a person of Indian origin from a given list of countries can also apply.

How to Apply:
Candidates can register for the exam only by the online mode. Visit http://upsconline.nic.in and fill in the details. The fee is Rs. 100/- and female/SC/ST and PH candidates are exempted from paying the fees.
Important Dates:
Last date for applying online is 30th June 2014.
The examination is scheduled to be held on 24th August 2014.
