Two sides of the same Coin!

Two sides of the same coin; good versus evil, right and wrong; in short two entirely different things, yet together. If you have read The Secret of the Nagas, you would remember the moment when Ganesh (The Lord of the People) drives home the point that the Vasudevs meant Good and evil were part of the same coin; they were just two different sides, which would probably never meet. But to find one of them, you had to find the other.

As I wait in trepidation for further cut-offs to be released by the Delhi University, I feel like the coin itself. My mind is entangled in a mental conflict; I am of two opinions, two opnions different from each other but yet related; part of the same coin.

The first cut-offs released were a nightmare; many didn’t secure admission or just missed getting admission by a point or two. Many didn’t have many choices; they just had the sheer luck of taking admission in a college or two.

I was one of them; thankfully getting a place at one college, unfortunately no choices. Having deliberated on whether I should take admission or wait for the second cut-offs, the second day I sent in my application form. The third day was fully employed in the payment of fees.

As the second cut-offs were released, I was grateful. Other than the college I had a seat, I didn’t qualify for any other college! I was really grateful; happy that I was one of the lucky ones to get a seat. This was one side of the coin.

But on the other hand, I was and am bitter.  When the exam results were out, I was told by everyone, from an amateur to a professional, that I was sure to get a seat in any eminent college in the first cut-off itself; that I would have numerous choice to choose from.

Another side of me was hopeful; hopeful that in any further lists, I might get a chance to choose; a remote chance indeed!
