Being an ardent book lover, literally a book worm, I have some tips for you which would help open up the door to the novel; blending yourself with the environment of the novel. Never will you again feel Shakespeare is unbearable or Hercule Poirot too cocky for anything; you will be immersed in the magic of any good novel! Here I go:
Never judge a book by its cover: Not really related to this topic, but a friendly warning, book covers can often be misleading. A luring cover of a book can turn out to be a full flop Bollywood movie.
- Identifying the Protagonist :
Many fail to recognise the protagonist in his actual form. You need to look through the eyes of the author, drawing your own conclusion is fine but while reading it, read it as the author would like you to. Don’t jump out of the designated path.
- Blend yourself with the environment :
When you read Watson’s narratives or reports, imagine yourself to be Watson, penning down his observations combined with his sturdy English notions. You enter the book, stand in Devonshire or on a liner in Egypt, sweating it out in the desert or smelling the salty, musty air!
-
Don’t move in a sequential order:
Yep, you should read as you please, leaving some chapters and coming back to them later. Take your own way; it increases the interest in the book.
- Try not to be critical :
I have seen many readers just glancing through the first two chapters of a novel and then throwing it away, being critical of it. Don’t ever do that, read through anything completely, who knows, you may be holding the next best seller in your hand.
More to come later............. For now, read read and read! Happy Reading!
