The creativity shown by students for idea generation in India is showing plenty of promise at the grassroots level, as demonstrated by 100 undergraduate students who attended TEDxHRCollege at The Indian School of Design and Innovation in Lower Parel on 7th February, 2015.
The lucky few selected to attend were treated to 12 different talks ranging from Improv Comedy to Financial Concepts all wrapped up in the conducive TEDx format.
Mr. Rohan Hattangdi, an attendee at TEDxHRCollege, was impressed with the line-up and the level of intellectual discussion:
"A typical college event usually has some monotonous speaker who talks about familiar topics without regard to actual interest. Today however, I must say the talks were well curated and featured speakers with an unusual but interesting combination of zest and matter!"
The event followed a general theme of Choice, Chance and Change in an attempt to inspire the attendees to look beyond their peripherals and discover more in life.
"We are ecstatic with the level of energy and enthusiasm our audience exhibited throughout the 8 hours of talks and plenaries" remarked Aakash Parekh, the Head of Operations.
The event also featured in depth plenary sessions from the likes of the BSE Institute and Waterwalla.org among other intriguing organisations.
The plenaries expanded on the topics covered during the sessions, motivating the audience to further their thoughts on the topic through active, guided discussions with experts.
Rayomand Anklesaria & Raunaq Vaisoha, the licensee and partner of TEDxHRCollege, have been diehard fans of the TED philosophy of "ideas worth spreading" ever since the first time they caught a TED video on YouTube.
Rayomand Anklesaria, the Licensee and a student of BMS at H.R. College, was originally captivated by TED videos when he was in the 8th grade. He said, "TED & TEDx enable me to bear witness to the multitude of opportunities that lie available but unnoticed due to the lack of a better platform. According to me, organising a TEDx is about the community we build with each TEDx event and the ideas that are showcased there. This specially created community (the audience) is a catalyst to change and are the true deciders of 'ideas worth spreading'"
"As is evident from TEDxHRCollege, I am not alone in my interest towards finding the next big idea. I believe that TEDx as a platform can definitely take collegiate learning and discussion to the next level, and could help fellow students create a more holistic and rounded opinion about current scenarios." Said Raunaq Vaisoha, the co-organiser, a student of BFM at H.R. College of Commerce and Economics; and is also an Active Bitcoiner.
TEDxHRCollege was brought to you by the BSE institute, which offers several courses for students who want to build a career in Financial & Capital Markets.
