Team Panthera, a group of 15 women from mechanical engineering department of Indira Gandhi Delhi Technical University is all set to break the stereotypes. These budding women engineers are gearing up to represent their college in an international level competition Shell Eco Marathon Asia 2022, a competition that challenges student teams from around the world to design, build and test ultra- energy-efficient vehicles.
Pursuing B.Tech in the field of mechanical and automation, these women believe that their abilities are at par with men. Out of 100’s of teams participating from all over the world, Team Panthera is the only women team looking forward to take all the challenges that comes their way.
Team members of Panthera:
They are participating in the competition to showcase their supermileage vehicle ‘IRIS 2.0’. The team aims to build a supermileage vehicle trying to incorporate unconventional and energy efficient techniques in the fabrication of the vehicle. The predecessor vehicle IRIS 1.0 was showcased in USA and was widely appreciated. Taking forward the legacy of their previous vehicle which obtained a mileage of 177kmpl they have raised the bar for IRIS 2.0 and are trying to achieve a mileage of 300kmpl.
The team’s participation on this international platform will not only give them an opportunity to prove their mettle but will also inspire other young female mechanical engineers to serve in this industry.
