Team Cronos from Manav Rachna Educational Institutions (MREI) brought laurels by winning the 2nd prize in the ‘World Citizenship Category’ at the Imagine Cup National Finals held at JW Mariott hotel at Aero City on April 22, 2022.
Team Cronos comprised of team members from Manav Rachna Educational Institutions (MREI) including Akash Lohan, Anjan Kar, Sahil Tanwar, Rahul Sharma and Himanshi Bhadana developed ‘klod’- a cloth donation app which abled to win thousands of hearts and thus bagged the second prize in the most prestigious Imagine Cup Finals 2022.
Three teams emerged as the winners under each of the three categories – World Citizenship, Gaming and Innovation after an intense contest among 27 teams from across the country selected by Microsoft. One grand winner will now be chosen to represent India at the upcoming worldwide finals in July in Seattle, USA, to compete among global teams for a USD 50,000 prize.
Microsoft Imagine Cup witnessed a huge participation of around 9500 students from 23 states across India this year. Apart from Manav Rachana University, other leading institutes participated in the event include IIT Ropar, Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies, IIT Delhi, PDM Institutions, Bahadurgarh, Maharaja Surajmal Institute of Technology and secured positions.
The team came up with a noble cause to help the unprivileged, developed an application which connects the donors to NGOs directly. The facility provided through this app will enable a donor to send their donation in a click away.
Those who want to donate are invited to save a number and WhatsApp the instructions which include: clicking a picture of the clothes to be donated, mentioning the number of clothes in the caption area and sending the donor’s location. A pick-up service is provided by the NGOs for those wanting to donate clothes.
