The Tamil Nadu Open University is inviting applications for admission in its B.Ed. programme for the academic session starting from January 2022. The university conducts this programme through the NCTE recognized 10 programme study centres that are located in the state of Tamil Nadu.

TNOU Admissions 2022: Eligibility Criteria
Interested candidates should fulfil the following prescribed eligibility criteria to apply for the course-
- The candidates should have completed their graduation from a recognized university or institute.
- The candidates who have completed a NCTE recognized teacher education programme are eligible to apply.
- Trained in-service teachers with D.T.Ed. in any government recognized school within Tamil Nadu State.
- Minimum marks obtained by the candidates should be-
- OC- 50 percent
- BC/BCM- 45 percent
- MBC/DNC- 43 percent
- SC/ST/SCA- 40 percent
TNOU Admissions 2022: Application Procedure
- Candidates can download the TNOU application form from the official website of Tamil Nadu Open University http://www.tnou.ac.in/.
- The cost of the application form is INR 500. It can either be downloaded from the official website or can be bought from the main office of the university.
- The filled in application form, which will be in the form OMR sheet, along with D.T.Ed. Certificate, degree consolidated mark sheet with provisional certificate and filled-in acknowledgement card affixed with postage of INR 6, are needed to be kept in the TNOU’s printed cover (A4 size brown cover).
- This form will then be mailed to the following address on or before October 14, 2022-Tamil Nadu Open University, Chennai, School of Education, (Distance Mode) Tamil Nadu Open University, No. 577, Anna Salai, Saidapet, Chennai-600015, Tel.: 044-24306617
- Candidates who wish to get the TNOU application form and prospectus by post will need to send a Demand Draft (DD) of INR 550, in favour of “Tamil Nadu Open University” payable at Chennai.
TNOU Admissions 2022: Selection Procedure
The selection of candidates and allotment of study centres will be made based on marks obtained in the graduation and other criteria given in the admission prospectus. The admission of the candidates will be strictly based on merit.

Duration of the course
The B.Ed. programme (distance mode) is of two years. However, the student teacher can complete the course within a maximum period of five years, after the enrolment.
The medium of instruction of the course is Tamil and English. However, the application is common in both the mediums.
Total Intake
TNOU’s B.Ed. programme has a total intake of 1000, wherein 100 seats are allotted for each programme study centre. The bifurcation will also include 500 candidates in Tamil medium and 500 candidates in English medium; the list of which will be based on the rank prepared for each medium.
Programme Fee
The B.Ed. programme fee is INR 32000 for the entire programme of two years. The total fee is paid during the time of admission. Candidates can pay the amount through Demand Draft (DD) drawn in favour of “Tamil Nadu Open University” payable at Chennai. Candidates may note that the fee once paid is not refundable.
TNOU Admissions 2022: Important Points to Remember
Candidates interested in applying for the B.Ed. programme must keep the following points in mind before filling up the application form-
- The filled-in application form has to be sent to the university’s official address only.
- If the candidate has not mentioned any community in the application form, the application will be considered under OC category.
- If for any specific reason, the identified Programme Study Centres are cancelled, then university has the right to shift students to a suitable Programme Study Centre.
- There are two mediums in the application form: Tamil and English. Candidates will need to select only one language to fill up the form.
- Those candidates, who fail to report themselves on the day of Admission Counselling session, will forfeit their claim for a seat.
- The candidates from other states than Tamil Nadu cannot apply for B.Ed. programme.
