An alumnus of Jadhavpur University (JU), Kolkata, Tamanna Sinha has bagged the first rank in Indian Economic Service (IES) examination.
The IES is an entrance exam for candidates who are involved in formulating important economic policies for India.
Tamanna’s father is a retired IAS officer. After qualifying ICSE from Lycee School she opted for economics in ISC at Our Lady Queen and then took admission in economics course at JU.
She was placed at 10th rank in post-grad and qualified the IES written exam in 2009 but could not clear the interview. She devoted 2010 for her preparation and then again took the exam in 2011.
She also said that IES is a competitive exam and some best minds compete for only 29 seats that are up for grab. Tamanna was not sure that she will get through the exam.
The IES Results declared on July 10, 2012 surprised her. She has made her parents proud and happy.
Tamanna expressed doubts over advantages of welcoming FDI in retail without providing any security to farmers. The opening up of FDI in retail does not ensure that farmers will be benefitted through it. She suggests big players in retail must buy certain percentage of products from farmers and micro, SME (small and medium enterprises) and then invest in the supply chain.
click4college wishes Tamanna Sinha, best of luck!
