Metro is probably the best thing to happen to India (and specifically, Delhi). Covering large distances in a matter of few minutes, it is easily the most preferred form of public transportation. People from all walks of life can be seen in one metro ride.
Some people read books, some people watch movies on their phones, some people watch the girls (read: stare), some prefer taking a nap, while some talk on their phones loudly, much to everyone’s annoyance.
Being a frequent metro traveller, the most crowded ones I have come across are- Rajiv Chowk, and Vishwavidyalaya. And God forbid if you board the latter!
Time: 9 a.m. I enter the platform for the train going to Vishwavidyalaya, and what do I see? Hundreds of freshers, like me, waiting for the train. Dressed up in the trendiest of clothes, all look visibly excited for the adventurous day ahead.
The train arrives at 9:02 a.m. All the freshers try to board it together, not waiting for the people to deboard first! Upon entering, I see some chatting on their phones, some talking in giggling voices, making plans for the day, listening to music……the train reached its destination at 9:20 a.m., with around 400-odd freshers,to their new school : COLLEGE.
