Sports quota to be applied for admissions in DU PG courses as well

Delhi University in its initiative to promote sports among the students, introduces a five percent quota for all the Post Graduate courses which come under the sports category. This would motivate more students to go for sports along with their higher studies and they would not have to choose one over the other.

The reservations under sports quota were restricted to only the UG programs of DU but, now it has been permitted for its PG courses as well.

This move of DU authorities could be a win-win for both students and the University as more students will encouraged for taking sports and the university will get an intake of more all round performers. This would also benefit the students who have an interest in sports and have pursued it at school level.

There is also an added advantage for those who have national or international- win records as they will be eligible for direct admissions which means that they need not sit through the trials for admissions. This is an extension to the relaxations introduced last year for specific sports like chess, archery, etc.

This has come as one of the many moderations made in the Delhi University admission process for the 2014-15 sessions.
