SIBM, Pune: Entrepreneurship Summit 2014

Symbiosis Institute of Business Management, Pune successfully hosted a one-of-a-kind event – Entrepreneurship Summit 2014 from August 14-16, 2014.

 

The event intended to provide a 360-degree perspective and a holistic platform for fostering the entrepreneurship acuity of MBA students. The three-day summit hosted various events and competitions focused on various dimensions of entrepreneurship.

 

 

The summit inaugurated with ‘Pride & Passion – The Summit Launch’, an interactive session with established entrepreneurs which gave students the opportunity to learn from their insights and obtain valuable guidance from their experience. The series of guest lecturers were started off by Mr. Ashwini Malhotra who is the Managing Director, Weikfield Foods Pvt. Ltd., the flagship foods business company of the Weikfield Group.

Following Pride & Passion, Symbi Haat was inaugurated. Symbi Haat was a carnival spread over the three days from 14th to 16th August, wherein students of SIU–Lavale campus set up stalls under the categories of food, games or merchandise. It was conceptualized in order to give the students a chance to experience the thrill of running their own businesses.

 

 

Another highlight of the day was the national-level ‘Entrepreneur of the Year’ competition which tested the decision-making, street-smartness and risk-taking capabilities among other entrepreneurial traits of the participants. It was one of the main attractions of the Entrepreneurship Summit 2014. The first round, which involved a case analysis, saw more than 200 entries from top B-Schools across the length and breadth of the country. The final Campus round had 13 participants shortlisted from the initial round battling it out.

The next day, shortlisted students were taken to the city for a sales experience like none other. Jugaad-The Fund Raiser was a unique concept included as part of the Entrepreneurship Summit 2014. It was conceptualized as a selling event, where students were sent out to the city to sell handicrafts on at inflated prices.
