Many say the first day of college holds only one thing for the oldies – the seniors, who have their lives’ pleasure in ragging the freshers. Ragging in the sense, breaking the ice with the kiddos, who fresh from school haven’t got iota idea of how college life should progress. Just having fun, that’s how everyone frames it. I heard it from a friend that his college seniors had a good time with them, though yeah, asking them to showcase their talent, if they felt comfortable. That's a change when juniors are asked to perform only if they feel like it. And we haven’t got a dearth of fame seekers; who want to be in the limelight! On a serious note, that was a good interaction session wherein the freshers got to know everything, unique and sinister about their college.
Hmmmmm....... In my college, I wouldn’t say nothing happened. First, everyone was overwhelmed by the gender equality in our class (50-50) whereas the usual ratio was 70 – 30 girls and boys respectively. We didn’t see any unusual welcome, just the seniors dropping in in small groups of 5 or 6, chatting with us, having introductions and stuff like that. They had a word to say about every Professor and how to enjoy the course in the first year. And that made up our day! After all, a friendly meeting is what everyone looks forward on the first day!
