A seminar on Drug Addiction was conducted by P.G. Department of Journalism and Mass Communication at Doaba College under the supervision of Commisionarate, Jalandhar.
On this occasion Ins. Subash Chandra (Inspector in charge suwidha center), Mr. Rajinder Mehta (Traffic education wing), Mrs. Praveen Abrol (Saanjh Kendra north), Mrs. Avneet Kaundal (IPS, ACP North), Mr. Sukhdev Singh (DCP), Dr. Himanshu (PIMS) were present. A documentary was shown on drug addiction named ass ‘No Smoking’ made by the students of the department.
At first Principal of the college, Dr. Naresh Kumar Dhiman and Head of Department Dr. Simran Kaur Sidhu did the floral welcome of the worthy guests. Sh. Rajinder Mehta addressed the students and discussed the various issues of traffic and drugs prevailing in the society. He said that there are five lakh accidents and one lakh deaths in a year.
Followed by Mrs. Praveen Abrol, Dr. Himanshu stressed on the guidance given by parents, Unity, punctuality, discipline and will power. He also mentions that will power is necessary to leave drugs and there are 150 to 200 cases in a weak in the hospitals. He also mentioned the fact that the rehabilitation centre in Civil Hospital is yet to come and there are only 5 to 6 private centers.
A student col. Manish Gupta presented his research work done on Drug Menace in Punjab which was very informative.
At last ACP and DCP discussed the issue with the students as well. They throw light on the laws passed for the women safety. At last, Mr. Subash Chandra forced on Self Discipline.
The guest of honor was given to each guest by the hosts. The HOD, Staff members and students were present that time.
