MCKV Institute of Engineering, West Bengal on March 28, 2015 conducted a seminar for 4th & 6th semester students of Information Technology Department.
The seminar topic was “Chaos based Security & Authentication in Communication”. The main motive of the seminar was to make the students aware about Uses of Recursion & Relation in Communication and Tele Medicine.
The speaker started with explaining communication and its various aspects. He elaborated saying that communication is a Node to Node Jump and not direct transmission, which meant that in any communication network, steps are involved and it’s not directly from sender to receiver. But these steps take place in fraction of seconds. He then explained the Security aspects involved communication. He classified security aspects into two:
- Cryptography: Scrambling of information with some key and decoding the message at receiver’s end
- Steganography: It is basically invisible communication which involves huge amount of data
There are many terms related to cryptography such as plane text, chipper text, encryption, decryption, cryptosystem, etc. The major problem related with cryptography is that an algorithm is needed for decoding the message, else its invisible. Cryptosystem is of two types:
- Private/Secret key
- Public key
