State Bank of India, one of India’s largest public sector banks will be recruiting clerks for its five Associate Banks which are State Bank of Bikaner & Jaipur, State Bank of Hyderabad, State Bank of Mysore, State Bank of Patiala and State Bank of Travancore. The process for submitting application for the written examination has already commenced from 30th July 2012. Interested candidates can apply for the post of clerks in Associate bank and prepare for the written examination with 7740 vacancies.


Eligibility for recruitment in Associate banks of SBI as clerks:

Candidates applying for the post of clerks in Associate Banks of SBI need to fulfill following eligibility criteria:

  • A candidate needs to complete 10+2 with a minimum aggregate of 60% while for SC/ST/Person with Disability (PWD)/ ex servicemen (XS) the minimum aggregate is 55%.

  • A graduate degree from any recognized university.

  • Candidates who have not completed 10+2 but have acquired a diploma after 10th standard are also eligible if: (i) The diploma is a full time course with a minimum of two years duration. (ii) The diploma is recognized/approved by the State Board of Technical Education.

  • The percentage of marks in 12th/diploma course shall include all the subjects irrespective of optional/additional subjects. Grace marks, if awarded by the Board/University will be excluded. The date of passing the eligibility examination will be the date appearing on the marksheet /provisional certificate or the date on which the result was posted on the website of the university/institution.

  • Matriculate Ex-servicemen having the Indian Army Special Certificate of Education or corresponding certificate in the Navy or Air Force, after completing not less than 15 years of service in Indian Armed Forces are also eligible for the post. The certificates should be dated before or on 1st January 2011.

  • The candidate should be proficient in English speaking and writing.

  • Knowledge of local language will be an added advantage.



Age limit for recruitment in Associate Banks of SBI as clerks:

  • A candidate can apply for the appointment of clerk within the age limit of 18-28 years as on 1st August 2012.

  • The age limit is relaxed by 5 years for SC/ST and candidates having domicile of Kashmir division of Jammu and Kashmir during the period from 1st January 1980 to 31st December 1989.

  • 3 years are relaxed for OBC candidates while 10, 15 and 13 years are relaxed for Person with Disability (PWD) general category, PWD (SC/ST) and PWD (OBC) respectively.

  • For Ex-servicemen/Disabled Ex-servicemen the age limit is relaxed by actual period of service rendered in defence services +3 years and 8 years for Disabled Ex-servicemen belonging to SC/ST category subject to maximum age of 50 years.

  • For widows/divorced women and women judicially separated from their husbands and who are not remarried the age limit is relaxed for 9 years subject to maximum age limit of 35 years for general, 38 years for OBC and 40 years for SC/ST candidates.



How to apply for the post of clerks in Associate Banks of SBI:

An application fee of Rs 350 for unreserved category and Rs 50 for reserved categories need to be submitted either offline by challan form or online by net banking or debit/credit card. Candidates then need to apply online at the official website of SBI before the last date.


Syllabus for the SBI written examination for clerks:

The SBI written examination consists of following pattern:

  • General awareness will include General Grammar, Antonyms, Synonyms, Comprehension of a Passage, Sentence Completion and Vocabulary.

  • Quantitative Aptitude will include decimals and fractions, whole numbers, relationship between numbers, Ratio & Proportion, HCF & LCM, Simplification, Profit & Loss, Time and Work, Percentage, Partnership, Simple Interest, Time and Distance, Compound Interest, Permutations & Combination’s, Number Series, Probability, Approximate Values, Data Interpretation, Data Sufficiency and so on.

  • Reasoning Ability will include symbols and their relationships, Arithmetical computation, decision making, verbal and figure classification, verbal and non-verbal, analytical functions, space visualization, judgment, problem¬ solving, discrimination, arithmetical number series, visual memory, observation, arithmetical reasoning, relationship concepts, differences, analysis, similarities, analogies, etc.

  • Computer Knowledge will include Operating and DOS, Introduction of Computer and History, Computer Device, Security Aspects for PC, PC and System Software, Advanced Technology Regarding Computer, MS Word, Various Uses of Computer, MS Excel, Internet Programming Language, Computer Net work, Computer of Future, , E world, Window etc.

  • Marketing Aptitude will include Marketing Investigation, Concept of Marketing, Appointment of company, Marketing Management, Staff Management, management and employees, Importance of Marketing, Total Quality Management, Marketing Concept, Marketing and Advertisement, Needs of Consumers, Responsibilities of Marketing, Business Concept, Division of Market, Market and Business, Total Customer Value, Factor Affecting Consumers, Concept of Buying and Selling, Buyer and Seller, Consumer Satisfaction, Consumer Index Prices, Theory of Bargaining, Total Customer Cost, Techniques of Consumer Satisfaction, etc.

  • ¼ marks will be deducted for each wrong answer.


Pre examination training opportunity for the aspirants:

The candidates can also appear for the pre examination training at certain centres for a limited number of SC/ST/XS/Religious minority committee. The training will be conducted by the Associate Banks of SBI. The training will be conducted after 7th September by downloading the call letters for training.
