In a first of its kind, music band Parikrama has picked up a summer intern from IIM Kozhikode (IIM-K) to handle its social media and marketing for a few months. "This is the first time a music band has recruited an intern from us," confirmed a placement committee member of IIM K.
The summer placement reports by IIM-K states that around 144 companies came to hire 366 students out of which 80 were first timers. The highest stipend offered was around Rs 150,000.
"Sales, marketing and finance emerged as the most preferred verticals this year with more than 50% of the batch opting to pursue internship in these profiles. This season also saw a remarkable increase in the number of companies and roles in the corporate strategy and consulting vertical compared with the previous years," said a statement released by the management institute.
Besides, banking, FMCG and ITeS, some of the new-age profiles included sports management, corporate strategy, healthcare and an internship with a political party as well. ITC, Britannia, Goldman Sachs and KPMG were some of the companies that visited the campus.
