Happy New Year folks! We, your 6 CJs’ hope you have a joyful year ahead, with every wish fulfilled and an amazing time spent with your near and dear ones. At this very moment, you might be wondering why I chose to post seven days later, when the New Year blues are on the wane. Ah! Well, it was a New Year resolution taken, to blog something interesting on the very first day of the year! However, procrastination beat me to it and on the seventh, here I am!
Though kicked out of your stupor, you might wonder what I am referring to, eh? You might as well try to remember some of the promises you made to yourself on the first, hoping to have a fresh start. But, as the seventh day dawns upon you, those will have slipped off our memory, of course! Again, you might wonder why the seventh and not any other number! Ha! After all, isn’t 7 the most powerful magical number? (Potterheads will be familiar with this!)
Talking to some of my friends, I realized there are certain resolutions which are kicked out just as the first week passes by! Let’s look at some of them.
I won’t procrastinate:
Ha! I can bet a hundreds bucks to say this was your primary resolution taken a day earlier, on the 31st of December. Why? Results for many courses were released that day and you took a resolution, right? ‘I will start reading my course material and prepare notes from the very first day’. Whoosh! We turn to the seventh day and you have probably missed two 8.40 AM classes already! Punctuality and winter mornings don’t go together, do they?
I aim not to be a spendthrift:
Your balance sheet never totals, if the income is 3k, your expenditure exceeds 4k. Fiscal deficit ruling over your life, you planned to become a Scrooge! (‘A Christmas Carol’ reference) Ha! Spendthrifts can hardly adopt a frugal attitude overnight! Just peek into your wallet and you will realize what I mean. Half the money has disappeared, right? It isn’t any wizard having cast Evanesco on your Muggle notes; rather it is the college canteen whose business has flourished!
I won’t break my New Year resolutions:
Surprisingly, this bags the third spot! People actually do take a resolution not to break their New Year promises! Sadly, this newly found vigor doesn’t last long. This is probably the first resolution every one breaks.
Whether you did recognize yourself above there or not, we hope you atleast try to do some good stuff out there in 2015! Have a great year ahead!
