The present education system limits oppurtunities for higher education to students from minimum Competency Vocational Courses which curtails their education career. Those students are not even able to appear for CET.
Subjects like General Foundation Course (GFC) and second language should be made optional for MCVC students as told by Swati Majumdar , Director Vocational Committee. Students should be allowed to study physics, chemistry, maths or biology for them to have more options.
Pune has one government college , 86 government aided colleges and 5 unaided colleges offering MCVC course.Students have to choose three vocatonal subjects from theor areas of study.
The CET examinations are important for such students especially for the technical group. In the absence of relevant opportunities , a students who has studied some technical subject at the HSC level ends up going for conventional undergraduate courses and their technical educaion gets wasted , so if they are allowed to take the engineering courses, they can continue their studies in their respective areas," said Ninale
