Re-evaluation Introduced by CBSE for Class XII

CBSE will now allow re-evaluation of answer sheets at the senior secondary level (Class 12). With the new provision, which is in addition to the already existing verification of marks and obtaining a photocopy of the evaluated answer book (s), the process of seeking remedies will now be divided into three stages.

First, a student can apply for verification of the marks by submitting a fee of ` 300 per subject before June 5. If he is not convinced, he can apply to obtain the photocopy of his evaluated answer book. Only those who have applied for verification of marks can seek this remedy on paying a fee of ` 700 per subject. This must be done between June 20 and June 23.

If candidates remain unconvinced, they can apply for reevaluation. However, only those candidates who had applied for the photocopies of their answer sheets are eligible to take this recourse.

The remedy is available only for English core, English elective, functional English, Hindi core, Hindi elective, physics, mathematics chemistry, biology, business studies, economics and accountancy subjects. Moreover, it is available only for the theory portion. Candidates, in their forms, can request reevaluation of a maximum of 10 questions. They will be charged ` 100 for each question. For this stage, students must apply between June 28 and July 4.

CBSE, in its notification, also instructs applicants to first refer to the marking system of the subject concerned, available on the board’s website, along with the question paper, before submitting an application for reevaluation. They must also state the reasons for seeking the remedy for each question.
Students getting additional marks will be refunded the money charged for the question.

Payment for all these stages will be received only through e-challan/electronic payment gateway at www.cbse.nic.in.

Hailing the move, academician Arvind Goyal said, “CBSE has done a good job by making the examination system transparent. It is good to see that science subjects have also been added to the list of subjects for which revaluation is allowed.”
