Prodigy’ 13- Take the leap! , the seventh edition of Prodigy was conducted on October 21, 2013 at VP Chest Auditorium, North Campus, DU. Prodigy, which is hosted every year by Communique-The Promotion Cell of Shaheed Sukhdev College of Business Studies, New Delhi, reached new heights by expanding its dimensions to the schools of the entire nation in this one of a kind management extravaganza. The theme of the event, Take the leap! Set to inspire the students to fulfil their dreams by taking calculated risks and facing challenges. Prodigy’13 provided the students with a platform to fulfil their corporate aspirations by a series of exhilarating competitions.

The event began with the inspirational accounts of the Chief Guest Mr. Ajay Garg, Whole Time Director, SMC Global Securities Ltd. and Guest of Honour, Mr. VP Mittal, Managing Director, V-Serve Management Pvt. Ltd and V-Serve Share and Stock Broker Pvt. Ltd. It was followed by the words of wisdom of Dr. Kumar Bijoy, Convener, and Communique. Prodigy’13 was conducted on a three-tier basis with the online prelims being conducted on a pan-India level for the schools of the entire nation. Prodigy Prelims-Comprehensive Case Study involved the implementation of a CSR initiative in a given company subject to the new regulations pertaining to CSR. Top entries were invited to participate in Prodigy Mains conducted in New Delhi.

After the illustrious opening ceremony, the Round 1 of Prodigy Mains began with two competitions being conducted simultaneously. Acumen-The Brainstorming Quiz was conducted by Kunal Savarkar, CEO and founder, Quizcraft Events and Communications (P) Ltd. Kunal has worked as Content Editor for the popular TV game shows ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ and ‘Mastermind India’. Bullseye-The Stock Simulation Game presented the ups and downs of a stock market and took the students on the journey of the exciting highs and lows of the financial markets. The participants had to act as investors and trade in stocks of different companies. The game was taken to a new level with the introduction of the ‘market determined’ round, which helped students to grasp the real life implications of the forces of demand and supply.

The top fifteen schools qualified to Corporate Simulation, the finale of Prodigy’13. Corporate Simulation in itself consisted of 3 stages. The teams were given a chance to choose one sector amongst – Electronics, Fashion and Hospitality. The teams had to come up with a business idea pertaining to the sector chosen by the teams under the limitations of a constraint that was given to them. The teams had to attend an industry meet-up in the second round, to come up with a unanimous solution to a crisis that had struck the industry. The two weakest teams from each sector were eliminated in this round on the basis of their cumulative scores in the first two rounds. Only the top nine teams qualified to the final round of a press conference in which one representative from each team had to defend their company against a rumour that had been spread in the media houses.

Motivational workshops were also held by YouthBeat for school students and by Nurture Talent Academy for teachers.

Outstanding performance for the best solution to the comprehensive case study was awarded to St. Columba’s School, New Delhi. The final positions were as follows:

• First position: St. Columba’s School

• Second position: Navy Children School

• Third position: The Indian School
