Postal Department to Recruit 55,000 Gramin Dak Sevaks Online

The Postal Department has decided to recruit 55,000 gramin dak sevaks online in November 2022. As of now, relevant software to facilitate this online recruitment is available, but is under testing mode to ensure transparency.

B.V. Sudhakar, Secretary, Department of Posts, informed that in order to address the grievances of postal customers, they launched the National Service Call Centre 1924 on September 12, 2022. Customers can call from any network to this number and they will be given a unique eleven-digit ticket ID to check the status of their complaint. Around 98 percent complaints and grievances were resolved with the help of this newly built system.

Post-Payment Bank

B.V. Sudhakar also explained about Post Payment Bank, in which he told that the aim will be to better government to customer services by providing services like Direct Benefits Transfer that will be helpful in financial inclusion. Deposits by the customers can be made up to one-lakh rupees; however, there will be no lending. The Department aims at setting up around 650 branches of post payment bank by May 2022 and nearly one lakh employees will be working on it.

Encouraging Usage of Solar Power

The Department of Posts, in order to encourage the usage of solar power, will have 4000 postal buildings utilizing solar power in the coming days. The first step will be taken up by Postal Department Headquarters at New Delhi by installing solar power panels that will save up to at least rupees seventeen-lakh of monthly power bill.
