Photographs Exhibition by Goethe-Institute - Max Mueller Bhavan

Goethe-Institute - Max Mueller Bhavan & National Gallery of Modern Art is going to show the creation of internationally famed German photographer Sibylle Bergemann on November 28, 2015, at National Gallery of Modern Art (NGMA) Jaipur House, Sher Shah Road, Near Delhi High Court.

It will be a third international exhibition tour arranged by Institute for Foreign Cultural Relations (IfA). Before this two runs of the exhibition was held at the 'Akademie der Künste' in Berlin and the 'Museum für Photographie' in Braunschweig.

About Sibylle Bergemann

Sibylle Bergemann was a German photographer born on August 24, 1941, and died on November 02, 2010. In beginning the photographer was known as a fashion photographer but later she spread her wings in other fields like fashion, reportage, photographic essays, urban and rural landscapes as well as portraits.

She started her photographic training with Arno Fischer in 1966 and from 1967 onwards began her career as a freelance photographer. She was one of founding members of 'OSTKREUZ – Agentur der Fotografen' (Ostkreuz – Photographers' Agency), Berlin in 1990 and in 1994 became a member of the Akademie der Künste

Her work always illuminates the social reality of her time. Her pictures express the reality during the times of the GDR. She used her photography skills as a medium to express her feelings and thoughts. Her photographs show the subtly stories and nuances of their time.

Sibylle Bergemann worked in the beginning with black and white photography but later she also joined a group of photographers, who use colour as a constitutive element in the construction of a meaning, and not, as an illustration, device.
