The Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education & Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh cancelled the entrance test that was held on 10th Nov 2012 for admissions to post−graduate medical courses (MD/MS) following the registration of a criminal case over a question paper leak.
PGIMER has attained self sufficiency in postgraduate medical education and runs a continuous, full time residency program in most of the specialties of medical sciences e.g. medicine, surgery, pathology, etc.
A fresh PGIMER entrance exam would now be held on 8th Dec 2012 from 10 am to 1pm. The details are as follows:

Method of Negative Marking in the MD/MS Entrance Examination
The question paper has 250 questions with 5 options each, and hence a total of 1250 options (responses) some of which are correct (a) and others are incorrect (b).
Marking is done on the basis of answer options marked by the candidate. If the No. of correct responses marked =x and No. of incorrect responses marked =y
% score=(x/a-y/b) x 100
The result will be declared as “percentile” and not as “percentage” score.
The post−graduate courses (MD/MS) are much sought after by medical graduates (MBBS) and only a few among hundreds are able to get into it.
