Organ Donation Drive: an initiative of a faculty of ICCS, Pune

In today’s date where there is cut-throat completion in every aspect of life, where today education has become business for many Educational Institutes, but there stands one person whose aims and ambition are quite different from getting ahead in this competition.  In general the only job that a private educational institute wants from its professors is the best performance in teaching and the best results from its student. But Prof. Thomson Varghese ( Professor at Indira College Of Commerce and Science – Pune )  is the man who performs something for which he is not being paid anything , nor it is a part of his job profile.

 

Prof. Thomson Varghese , Professor at Indira College Of Commerce and Science , is the man who has initiated something which is quite different and rarely heard from any educational institute.  He has initiated an ORGAN DONATION drive among his students at ICCS- Pune.

 

In association with the ZTC organ donation organization Prof. Thomson on the very first day of his drive was successful in getting almost 10 students from his class ready for all organ donation( body donation) . He also gave a brief details of every terms and aspects related with the process of organ donation to his class, answered all the queries of the students and briefed the students about the Myths About Organ Donation.

 

On being asked to tell something more about the drive, he added that transportation of organs and tissues such as heart, liver, kidney and corneas are one of the greatest achievements of the modern medical science, these transplants help to save lives of many human beings. However, they depend upon the generosity of the donor. Organ Donors leaves a miraculous legacy. They are living hope that Death Can Bring Life, Sorrow Can Bring Hope, and that a loss can become the greatest gift for someone else. He also stated that every day more than 16-17 people die whilst waiting for a transplant, so there is a need to motivate the youth and start forming a chain for this generous cause.

 

He also stated about his another drive which he has named as “TEACH A CHILD INITIATIVE “. With the help of donations from students and being himself a major donor of the drive he aims to sponsor the education of a child every year.

 

But the question is what he gets from this? Is this a part of his job? , on asking the same from him he answered- he gets “ SHOWERS OF BLESSINGS ” , he added whatever he is today is Not by His Merit , But By Gods Grace.

 

How nice it would be that, if there is only Prof. Thomson in everywhere from whom we can learn so many things apart the syllabus of the course where everyone today gets a degree but not necessarily knowledge.
