Online CMAT to be held Twice a Year from 2013-14 Academic Session: AICTE

A tender released by the AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education) on 30th June 2012 states that the online CMAT (Common Management Admission Test) for admissions for Post Graduate programmes in management will be conducted twice in a year.

According to AICTE chairman S S Mantha, the aim of holding CMAT twice a year is to help candidates pick the best of the two CMAT scores for admission instead of having to wait for another one year.

The CMAT for admissions for the academic year 2013-14 onwards will be conducted twice and tentative dates for the first CMAT would be in September-October 2012 and second CMAT would be in February 2013 (These are only indicative dates and the actual schedule will be finalised at the time of awarding the contract).

AICTE had conducted the first national level computer – based Common Management Admissions Test (CMAT 2012) from 20th – 29th Feb 2012 in 61 cities across the country for selecting suitable students for admission into post-graduate programmes in management in AICTE approved management institutes. The test was conducted for 3 hours and contained multiple choice questions. The all India merit list was declared with total marks secured and All India rank. The CMAT 2012 score was valid for the admissions of the academic year 2012-13.

According to the tender, the CMAT to be conducted in September/ October 2012 & henceforth are expected to have 100 questions and would be of three hours duration covering the following four subjects:
(i) Quantitative Techniques and Data Interpretation (QTDI)
(ii) Logical Reasoning (LR)
(iii) General Awareness (GA)
(iv) Language Comprehension (LC)
