A group of young and dynamic people came to the street with the noble cause to increase awareness about the benefits of cycling for health and environment and contributed to the Cycle Day on August 7, 2022.
The event was whole heartedly supported by Symbiosis Institute of Business Management, Bengaluru and organised by Praja in Association with the Directorate of Urban Land Transport (DULT), Koramanagala and Bengaluru Coalition of Open Streets (BCOS).
The event witnessed the presence of Shri R. Ramalinga Reddy, Minister of Transport, Karnataka. He emphasised on the fact that cycling as a mode of transport can go a long way in solving Bengaluru’s traffic woes and further lead to health benefits and conservation of the environment.
Around 700 people and 320 cyclists across different age groups had participated in the event including a youngest being a 3 year old child, looking visibly excited on his new bike.
The ‘Cycle Day’ began at 8.00 am with a 5.5 km cycle rally around the vicinity and later witnessed activities like Dance, Zumba, Hula hoop, Tug of War and Segway rides which greatly enthused the participants and added to the palpable excitement. These activities together with the cycle rally were conducted and managed by the student volunteers from SIBM Bengaluru along with adequate support from Praja.
The event was sponsored by Big Banyan Roots, Trusted Stay, Play Arena and Hotel Grand Mercure and seeks to expand into other parts of the city as well.
