Delhi University (DU) scrapped the entrance for the popular course, Bachelor of Management Studies (BMS) from the session 2014-15. In the race for admission in DU, a course like BMS was a breather. Now, the students have to depend solely on their scores in the Board exams. Earlier, the criteria for the admission for BMS course in DU, was based on the entrance test (50% weightage), board results (30% weightage), and an interview (20% weightage). The new criterion gives 85% weightage to the board marks and 15% weightage to the interview conducted by the university.
There are six colleges in DU that offer BMS course namely, Shaheed Sukhdev College of Business Studies (SSCBS), Deen Dayal Upadhyaya College (DDUC), Keshav Mahavidyalaya (KMV), Maharaja Agrasen College (MAC), College of Vocational Studies (CVS) and B.R. Ambedkar College.
Faculty of Management Studies (FMS) had taken the initiative to conduct the admission process for BMS. But, there have been constant hassles in its conduction e.g. FMS released the multiple lists of eligible students for the admission to BMS that created confusion among students. Finally, FMS has scraped off the entrance test because of its failure to conduct the entrance smoothly.
The students are both worried and disappointed about this decision as the board exam scores are not enough to judge the capability & aptitude of the students. In a course like BMS, inherent logical and analytical skills of the students are way more important than their performance on a particular day.
