NIFT 2017 Syllabus

NIFT is a national level entrance examination that is organized by National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Mumbai. It is a gateway to invite interested and eligible candidates to take admission in its various undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in fashion technology and design field. NIFT 2022 exam is one of the most coveted examinations for all the design and fashion aspirants. NIFT 2022 Important Dates

NIFT 2022 Exam Pattern

Given below are a few points related to the NIFT 2022 exam pattern-

1. NIFT 2022 is a pen-paper based exam (offline mode).
2. The examination will e divided into two parts- General Ability Test (GAT) and Creative Ability Test (CAT).
3. Test duration will be 2 hours (120 minutes).
4. All the UG and PG aspirants will need to appear for GAT and CAT exam.
5. The total number of questions in the paper will be 150.
6. There is no negative marking in the paper.

NIFT 2022 Syllabus

The paper will be divided into two parts including General Ability Test (GAT) and Creative Ability Test (CAT). Let us look at both of them individually-

General Ability Test (GAT)

The test will comprise of the following sections/questions-

• Quantitative Ability
• Communication Ability and English Comprehension
• Analytical and Logical Ability
• Case Study
• Effective Communication
• Leadership Qualities
• General Knowledge and Current Affairs
• Problem Solving Approach

Creative Ability Test (CAT)

The CAT test examines the power of observation, creativity, discernment ability and design ability of the candidate. It also checks the applicant’s ability to use different colors and utilize creativity thought process in graphic skills.

A Situation Test for shortlisted candidates will be conducted to evaluate candidate’s skills for material handling and innovative ability on a given set of materials. No additional material will be provided to the candidates. The candidates will be judged on their space visualization, innovative and creative use of given material, composition of elements, construction skills, color scheme, finesse of the model and overall presentation.

Another level of the selection process will include Group Discussion. It will comprise of approximately 15-20 minute discussion on a case study, on which a panel of experts will assess the aspirant on the following basis-

• Conceptual clarity
• Contribution made to the topic
• Leadership qualities
• Effective communication
• Ability to generate new ideas
• Interpersonal skills
• Problem-solving approach
• Knowledge of the topic assigned

The last step of the selection procedure will be a personal interview (PI), which will be judged on the basis of the following-

• General awareness and aptitude
• Creative and lateral thinking
• Aptness for the course
• Overall personal achievements in academics and extra- curricular activities
