Chandigarh Group of Colleges had participated in 20th annual great Moonbuggy Race by NASA held on April 25-27, 2013 and it is the matter of pride that this team from Chandigarh Group of Colleges had made it to secure a position in his race for the first time from Asia. Team had completed the race in just 6 minutes and 19 seconds while Assembly time was of 26 seconds, however best time till now by any Indian team. The design made by the team was very much appreciated by the NASA representatives. It was awarded as one of the best designs of rookie team.
Position secured by the Chandigarh team was 12th in all over the world, 2nd in Rookie Team and most importantly 1st in Asia.
For two decades, NASA has used its Great Moonbuggy Race as way to inspire students to feats of engineering and athletic prowess. Competitors have to design, build, and race lightweight, human-powered vehicles that can traverse a half-mile course simulating the surface of the moon.
