Mumbai Finals of Mr. & Ms. Academia and Student Idol was held on November 28, 2015 at Goregaon (W). Foot tapping music, bollywood jhatkas and matkas, some classical moves in power packed performances and girls & boys at their glamorous best! This event was bustling with entertainment!
Contestants gave electrifying performances in presence of Mr. Pratik Keswani from Shiamak Davar Institute of Performing Arts, Ms. Pooja Chaudhary from Harpreet Bachher’s “The Wedding Story”, Mr. Mitesh Mehta –Editor-in-Chief; Enlighten India and honourable Directors of NAEMD.
Large number of young performers showed up at the auditions earlier in November from colleges across the city, to name few– Mithibai, Jai Hind, St Andrews, St Xaviers, Lala Lajpat Rai, Somaiya, Thakur College, and Lord’s Universal College. It was a tough time deciding who would make the cut for the Mumbai Finals. But definitely the contestants who qualified for it charmed the audience with spectacular performances.
Glamorous girls and cool dudes walked the ramp brimming with confidence and attitude. Finally, it was Shlok Mahidar & Sharlene Lobo who grabbed the winning title for Mr. & Ms. Academia, while runner-up slots were taken by Gaurav Pathak, Khushali Sanghvi & Shikha Khan respectively. Fauziya Shaikh grabbed the winning title for Student Idol (female category) with her rock star performance, while Urvashi Chauhan and Bhagyashree Dhamne were first and second runners-up among girls. Gauresh Shettlear thrilled the judges with his classical act and won the Student Idol (male Category). Swapnil Bhombad & Alphons Shetty was the first & second runner-up respectively.
These winners will now compete on 8th Dec 2015 at the India Finals with winners from other cities –Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Delhi, Kolkata etc. Mr. & Ms. Academia INDIA finalists will undergo grooming and training from industry experts like Keyur Desai-Fashion Choreographer, Surbhi Prabhu-Model cum actress, Pratik Dixit – model cum actor, Harpreet Bacher –Fashion Photographer, My Dentist, Beauty experts from Lakme Salon and Pawan Sabrawal –Fitness expert.
