Students from Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies have been awarded with MUNIJAN 2013 award on October 2, 2013.
MUNIJAN Award stands for Mumbai University New Initiative for Joint Action Now competition. It is an initiative to inspire the collegians to contribute towards the society.
It was initiated with a project entitled as ‘Uthsaah’ for class X students aims to help the civic students prepare for their board exams. It is a brainchild of team socialite from JBIMS.
The team work with their best zeal to uplift the educational standards of municipal schools available for the students. They have noticed that there is a huge gap in quality of education between the private institutes and Govt Schools. So they have raised the issue to establish a system where collegians can volunteer to mentor the municipal schools.
It was a 3 members group which include Siddhant Phutane, Sachin Gupta and Saiprasad sale. Collegians wish to volunteer can also register by online. In their project they have chosen the schools having very low pass percentage of students.
This competition was inaugurated by Joint Commissioner of Police Hemant Nagrale. Great Grandson of Mahatma Gandhi Dr. Anand Gokani also marked his presence to this event.
The University had received 76 appreciations for the competition out of which 8 were selected to present their ideas in front of the jury. As a theme idea different colleges had chosen various ongoing topics like use of cloth bags instead of plastic one, educate, train and empowered the disabled people by making them job-ready.
