Even after a month of declaration of engineering results of first and seventh semester exams, which were evaluated online, the Mumbai University continues to manually re-evaluate the papers of several students who reported errors in their marks. The principal of a city college have written to the university to reconsider the results of the students who have been marked fail in the official gazette, even after passing the examination. The university has received many complaints from the students who scored in single digit even after attempting the entire paper.
According to the examination in-charge and senior faculty member of an eastern suburban college, many students complained of a difference of 15 marks between their result and the photocopies of the answer sheets. Another academician informed that the delay was taking place because of the busy election work by the university officials. There have been 10-15 cases where students have received a photocopy that shows a difference in the result. The software error is one of the reasons for the difference in marks. Now, the university is evaluating the paper manually. The results were expected to be out by April 2014, but due to the polling duties, it was delayed. Suresh Ukarande, Dean of Technology, Mumbai University said that the photocopies of all the students are being checked and the final results will be declared before May 13, 2014.
