Miniature Formula Racing at SRM University

Imagine Formula prototypes scaled down to one-eighth the size, run by remotes controls with specialized radio transmitters and run on improvised dirt tracks. Sarath Uday, here at SRM, has turned his passion for motor racing in to designing some of the best RC cars and he shares his experiences from his journey so far.

Sarath , an automobile engineer, started his journey into this world in his 1st year of college, he says that he developed this interest when he attended a seminar in Anna University on Robotics that dealt with the know-how of IC engines. The first leg of this amazing journey was tiresome, he admits, as he faced umpteen number of challenges which intimidated him. He says that the first 6 months had been really hard on him, with the car refusing to even start in his first three competitions.

Overcoming troubles has been Sarath's asset, his willpower and determination had led him to be the proud recipient of many prestigious awards today. He represented Team India in the South Zone RC Championship and the National Championship held in Hyderabad. On the international platform, Sarath's team participated in the Femca Asia Level Buggy Championship held in Thailand. He also represented the team in the Red Bull Championship and landed in the finals, which are scheduled for later this year in Brazil.
